5 ways to make friends while traveling alone
Wednesday, 2 January 2019
It's great to travel solo. You can fully focus on yourself, think about your goals and do what you want to do. But sometimes you just need company and there comes my ultimate guide how to find friends even if you introvert as me.
1. Couchsurfing events
No matter where I'm going, I always check events on Couchsurfing in this place. I find it super easy to start conversation in these meeting, because you all love traveling and have experiences to share. So there is no awkward moments with first contacts.
2. Staying or working in hostels
Hostels are great source of people open to talk or meet someone. It's actually pretty hard to not talk with someone, when you are staying in sharing room, having breakfast together, cooking or resting in hostel. My tip is to bring playing card with you, it's always fun and great opener.
3. Doing activities
Going out of the comfort zone is my favorite tip. If you start doing new activity, or even booked any kind of activity online, you will for sure meet new people. I'm using Meet up to find people with same interest or Adventure Hunter to find right activity for me.
4. Airports & Planes
It's something magical about this place, but everytime someone start to talking to me, when I'm at the airport or in plane and it's super easy. You can start with - Where are you going? or Are you also flying to Paris?
5. Asking for help
Doesn't matter if you will ask stranger for taking photo of you or how to get to the place, it'll help you find many friends. Just smile and try it :)
